Minutes of the September 17, 2009
Board of Directors Meeting

Present: D. Bowman, P. Kenny, T. Peters, K. Simons and J. Miller
Guests:  J. McHuge and M.J. Fesenmaier

  1. Meeting called to order by Chair D. Bowman 7:35 at p.m.
  2. Motion by P. Kenny to accept the August 20, 2009 meeting’s minutes, seconded by M. Palmer. CU
  3. Motion by P. Kenny to accept the August 2009 Bookkeepers Report, seconded by M. Palmer. CU
  4. Staff Reports: Peters explained that he has spoken to some of residents of Hillside to explain to them about the quality of the water down there.
    Motion by M. Palmer to accept the June 2009 staff reports, seconded by P. Kenny. CU
  5. Old Business:
    1. Budget -  Trying to hold expenses down. However, lack of donations is having a negative effect. None of the communities have asked for the numbers yet.
    2. Lake Tour -  Sixty-six persons were on the trip. It went very well, discussed all of the entities involved in making Geneva Lake area successful.
    3. Fuel tanks -  There was a meeting at the Abby Harbor house. They don’t feel they have any other options to put the tank. Peters did send a letter that is was not the best interest of the Lake. The WDNR has no control over where they locate tanks, its is regulated by Dept of Commerce. Peters has checked and there has not been a problem thus far, and the area is being kept clean. Peters is going to meet w/ them to discuss matters. Peters is going to push they have training sessions for pump operators and fire department to address if a spill and contamination happens.
  6. New Business
    1. Boat count/swim beach results were distributed and briefly discussed. A press release was in paper today.
    2. Cancer cluster -  The state does not feel it is significant or enough information available at this time. The Walworth County Environmental Health Officer They did suggest having a professional from the UW-SP Groundwater Center come and discuss ground water and surface water. Possibly have some more detailed testing done then what we do. Peters will pursue this matter more after the rally.
    3. M. Palmer reported the drainage problem should hopefully be reduced fixed-due to a change in type of farming.
  7. Car Rally (see attached outline of discussion ).
    Motion by P. Kenny to accept the cost of the insurance for the rally of $429.00, seconded by J. Miller. CU
  8. Commissioners Report: Nothing to add.
  9. October 15, 2009 next meeting.
  10. D. Bowman moved to adjourn @ 9:15 p.m. seconded by M. Palmer. CU
