All of us here at WILDTALK sincerely appreciate any and all efforts from those of you who are members or even one time gift . The animals thank you, and we thank you. The life you help , the life you help us to save with your membership, and gifts , give the animals that have refuge and sanctuary here, a better quality life. Your participation makes it possible for WILDTALK to continue bringing quality educational programming to areas it is greatly needed and into schools etc. The students we introduce to our wild friends, are the future of the animal kingdom. Please help us by your membership, gifts and sponsorships to continue these valuable programming. The summer meeting for WILDTALK is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 22 , 1999 from 2 to 5 PM at the sanctuary . Those members attending, or those wishing to become members, please e-mail or phone for additional information. Contact Karen at wildtlk2@genevaonline.com or leave a message at 414 245 3368. The planned theme for the meeting is a picnic event, so bring your own blanket, as we will be outside. Bring a dish to pass. WILDTALK will provide the meat dish, either chicken or brats/ & burgers. So pack you picnic baskets and visit with the animals for the afternoon!! In the event of changing weather , we have an alternative meeting spot. We are all excitedly looking forward to seeing your at the meeting! I apologize for the letter being somewhat overdue. July 1st , I had emergency surgery for a ruptured bladder and very extensive infection. Recovery has taken a bit of time. Karen P. two weeks after my own surgery, had surgery for a torn rotor cup repair. She is a main volunteer here, and my self, so with both of us down and recovering from surgery, it has been very difficult to keep anything on schedual. Include work schedules and DR appts as well as vet appts. And some internal restructuring of the WildTalk officers, the summer has been chaotic and full to say the least. We had summer camps this past 3 wks, as well as 3 major rescues in a row, out of state or area interventions. We were in Missouri 3 days, but it was a positive venture in that the animals that needed refuge and transport were successfully moved. Due to personal / and family commitments, as well as conflicts of interest. Gary Dunn and June Dunn of the Illinois location, officially sent written notification of their joint resignation on / and effective July 1, 1999. Vice President N. Martin , stepped into President position until Karen Podella / President Elect can be formally voted in at the summer meeting. Ginger Butchart also joins the team in a board position. Jay Katz has been helpful in security advisement. Ginger Butchart, Karen P. and Colleen Lemke will be assisting in educational programing. Karen Podella in rescue and placement. Like any other organization, until we get on our feet and have some understanding of all things involved, there will be changes within our internal offices. Meetings will be quarterly. Newsletters also quarterly. Annual reports, yrly. Emergency meetings as needed by officers, / proxy votes accepted in lieu of physical presence of member/members. My sincerest apologies in that this letter is late, our prayers are with Rhonda Peek , who lost her dad this month, my own physical health and the latest incoming kitty to the sanctuary, such events have thrown our time schedule off considerably. I apologise. Thank you for bearing with us. Our goals are to increase awareness of endangered and threatened species and habitats. To provide sanctuary and refuge for animals in need. To continue quality educational programming and mentoring. Teaching one to teach one to care. Without your support, our team members, without our family of committed caretakers, we can not survive. Your input, volunteering, commitment to quality and excellence as well as your gifts are what make WildTalk . You, our members, and team workers/volunteers, are truly the HEART of WildTalk. For the animals having permanent sanctuary here, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul. Each and every one of you. Your support gives me the strengths to continue, no matter the obstacles or disappointments. Thank you and God continue to bless you. Trapper, the Canadian lynx we rescued from Stagger , Illinois last yr, is still with us. He is doing excellent. He has new shelves way high up thanks to the help of Jay Katz......and his carpentry skills he volunteered to help finish Trappers habitat area. Trapper loves being way up high. He lies on his back at night looking at the stars in the universe!! It mattered to him to be saved!Visit with him for even a few moments and I think you will see that too! He is an incredible feline. Trapper still has not gotten a personal sponsor. He has gotten a new roommate next door to him, an African Serval Cat named Poco who is 10 yrs old and has come to WildTalk to live out his days at the sanctuary. Poco's owner could no longer deal with his special needs. We are happy that there was availability here for him, but now we need 3 more caging units as there is still a cat on the East Coast in legal limbo, who is scheduled to come here for sanctuary. Poco's unexpected arrival, has changed space considerations for the serval needing refuge on the East Coast. Please contact us if you can help in any way with this need!! We need an additional caging unit, shelving, igloo den for Poco, on a more permanent basis. Thank you Ginger for bringing your digital camera over and taking some pics of Trapper for our newsletter!!Thanks Bill for scanning them into the computer and sending them out!! Special Thanks!! to Rhonda Peek, at Cattery Row for her help with WildTalk's Web site and getting the spring and summer newsletters up. Linda from Kats' Korner who usually does the web site, has been off line and having major computer problems, changing systems and personal commitments. Thank you Rhonda for your help!! Please visit Cattery Row as well as Kat's Korner! If you have a website you would like listed in our newsletter, or would like to link to our site with a reciprocal link, please e-mail /write or call us.
