I would like my first official act as president of WildTalk to be to offer a warm "Thank You" to everyone who was part of the voting process and who supported me in the decision to run. Very special thanks to Becky Hargens, who first introduced me to the organization. At risk of sounding generic, there are others I have worked with and become friends with through WildTalk and I fear that if I start naming individuals to thank I will miss someone. So, you know who you are if you fall into this category! A big blanket thank you to you all! Your friendships have enriched my life and touched the lives of many others, both two and four legged. It is my hope that over the next two years WildTalk as an organization will continue to grow and prosper. As many of you know, the group is nonprofit and run on a strictly volunteer system. Members of WildTalk need to pull together for the well being of the animals in its care as well as to promote the goals of the group. Currently WildTalk has several areas of focus, including rescue work, rehabilitation, educational talks and home visits to people who otherwise would not be able to experience the magic and love an animal has to offer. These are good things and I hope that they will continue to be a part of WildTalk in the future, but this can only be accomplished if we are all able to work together. All of us have hectic schedules, and even a few minutes of your time can be precious. If you would like to become more involved, please contact me or one of the other WildTalk officers and we certainly can find a place for you to help out. I’ve never been one for long speeches and so will wrap this up. Congratulations to all newly elected officers. I look forward to working with you all during the next two years, and hope to see some new faces at the next meeting! Also, please do not forget Be Kind to Animals Week, which is the first week of May. Happy Spring! Ann-Marie Schmid, D.V.M.
